Lacking of satisfactory computing solutions within the national market, it was mandatory from our perspective, designing a solution which could be tailored according to our clients needs. So, we worked on the creation of our own clustering management software, which encompasses the complete life-cycle of our solutions, from its installation, to its on-site administration. This software is called CIA (Cluster Installation and Administration) and it is based on Linux . Our software found its ultimate test of capability and adaptability back in year 2001, when we were required to implement a 128 node cluster for the Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo (IMP), in a time in which current clustering software allowed to handle up to 64 node clusters. This successful case deserved to be reported by Intel® in its corporate website http://www.intel.com/espanol/business/casestudies/snapshots/imp.htm.
Next year, this project rated 410 in the international TOP500 for Supercomputers, becoming the first Mexican cluster to geta place in such a notorious list.
Nowadays, we count more than 70 of our clusters working with CIA, most of them helping scientific labor and economic development, as well as governmental activities all over Mexico.
